Short:
Kay Kerr is an autistic author and journalist. She is the author of several critically acclaimed books, including the YA novels Please Don't Hug Me and Social Queue, and her work of adult non-fiction, Love & Autism. Her latest book is adult fiction Might Cry Later. She is a widely published freelance writer and prominent voice in the Australian autistic community. She lives with her family on the Sunshine Coast, Queensland.

Kay Kerr is an autistic author and journalist from the Sunshine Coast, Queensland. Her latest book, Might Cry Later, is out at the end of the year. It is her second book with Pan Macmillan, after her narrative non-fiction, Love & Autism. Her debut novel Please Don’t Hug Me (2020) was shortlisted for Book of the Year for Older Children at the Australian Book Industry Awards (ABIA) in 2021, and listed as a ‘Notable Book’ by the Children’s Book Council of Australia (CBCA). Her second YA novel, Social Queue, was shortlisted for the Queensland Literary Awards and was a CBCA Notable book as well. Kay’s work has been published and translated internationally, including in the US, the UK, Germany, and Spain. Kay’s freelance writing has appeared in The Guardian, SBS Voices, Daily Life, POPSUGAR, Broadsheet, and Peppermint Magazine. She writes about autistic representation, disability, parenting, pop culture, gardening, and feelings.
